FIELD: fire-fighting equipment and ship building, more specifically, plants for extinguishing of fires located directly on water surface, for instance, on ships and floating drilling units and near water, for example, in port structures. SUBSTANCE: floating plant includes vessel, pump with drive, compressor, water intake, pipelines and device for producing the directed liquid stream. The device is made in the form of gas-dynamic nozzle whose inlet is connected with chamber for mixing the liquid and air, and provided with device for dispersing of liquid stream. Mixing chamber is connected through pipelines with pressure hollows of pump and compressor. Vessel may be provided with propulsion system or towboat. Vessel may be used in the form of pontoon or high-speed vessel. Floating plant may also include system of vessel positioning with engine and/or steering devices. Method of floating plant operation consists in water supply through water intake to pumping unit and with the help of the latter, water forcing under high pressure to nozzle mixing chamber. Suppled to mixing chamber in addition to water is air. Water flow at chamber inlet is preliminarily dispersed. Produced two-phase flow is accelerated in gas-dynamic nozzle and formed gas-drop jet is directed onto fire seat. Air pressure at nozzle inlet and relative concentration of liquid in two-phase flow are selected depending on conditions of formation of gas-drop jet. EFFECT: higher efficiency of fire extinguishing due to generation of finely dispersed high-velocity gas-drop jet, increased distance of jet throwing, reduced power consumption and weight of fire plant. 20 cl, 5 dwg
