FIELD: toxic compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at removing cyanides and varieties of anionic metal groups from alkaline solutions originated from mining industry and electroplated coating area. Anionic metal groups, cyanide groups, and their combinations are isolated from aqueous alkaline solution by bringing solution into contact with extractant that can be protonated at pH 9 or higher, aqueous alkaline solution having pH from about 7.5 to about 10. Extractant is a compound depicted by general formula I: (I) where R1-R5 are hydrogen atom, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon groups with 1 to 25 carbon atoms, total number of carbon atoms in R1-R5 being at least 12 and at least one of R1-R5 radicals containing at least 6 carbon atoms. EFFECT: enabled concentration of toxic components of exhausted solutions. 36 cl, 15 tbl, 18 ex
