LOCKING DEVICE Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: locking devices designed for protection of doors of containers, vans, boxcars, tank car hatches, handwheels of hopper-grain freighter and others from nonauthorized access to transport freights. SUBSTANCE: locking device consists of wire rope length with lug and fixing mechanism fitted on rope free end. Fixing mechanism body has axial inlet and outlet holes to pass rope. Conical hollow located between the holes accommodates pivot in the form of spiral wire member contacting concurrently the body internal conical surface and rope exterior. Body of fixing mechanism in zone of outlet hole has thickness equalling at least two diameters of exterior rope strand. Body inlet hole is star-shaped similar to rope cross-section. Protrusions of sprocket are located in hollows between rope exterior strands. To prevent body unscrewing from rope, body hollow accommodates freely rotating bushing whose internal conical surface comes in contact with collet. Body outlet hole shape and sizes are similar to inlet hole. To preclude play of collet, installed between outlet hole and collet is spring developing pressure onto collet along its axis, for instance, through spacer. To ensure reliable wedging of rope by collet, it is made in the form of wire member consisting of at least two wires woven with each other to impart it spiral shape.
