FIELD: petrochemistry and hydrogenation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: in aluminum carrier-containing catalyst, novelty consists in its having 0.02-0.1 wt % iridium as active component. Catalyst preparation procedure includes immersing, for 90-150 min, preliminarily oxidized aluminum metal carrier into potassium hydroxide solution, pH 8.8-12.5, placed in closed space at 170-210 C. Novelty further consists in that solution contains 1•10^-4-1•10^-3 M ammonia complex of iridium [Ir(NH₃)₅Cl]Cl₂ at ratio of loose volume of granulated aluminum to solution volume from 1:15 to 1:11.
