FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves introducing probe with current- generating members positioned at its measuring distal end into proximal stomach region. Proximal end of the probe is attached to a recording device. Electric impedance is recorded under alternating current of 1 mA and 100 kHz frequency supplied. The probe is slowly pulled from the stomach to approach superior sphincter of the esophagus marking probe position in the esophagus on the impedance curve. After taking the probe out, impedance values are determined in injured esophagus segment and in healthy wall of subcardiac region of the stomach to calculate the ratio of the values. The relative characteristic value being equal to 1.2-1.5, esophagus mucosa is diagnosed as injured one. The relative characteristic value being equal to 1.6-1.9, mucosa and submucous layer of the esophagus wall are diagnosed as injured ones. The case of 2.0 and higher is diagnosed as injured muscular wall of the esophagus. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy in determining the esophagus wall injury depth. 4 dwg
