FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves measuring intraluminal pressure and electric impedance of the whole esophagus wall at its different levels. To do it, two- canalled probe is introduced into proximal region of the esophagus. One of the canals is filled with liquid for measuring intraluminal pressure. The other one is used for measuring esophagus wall impedance. Proximal probe end is attached to recording unit. The recorded values are saved in computer memory. The values are recorded in static position of the probe during the first 4-5 min. Then, the probe is slowly pulled to the upper esophageal sphincter, making marks on a curve corresponding to probe position in the esophagus. The obtained results are analyzed after the probe is removed. Disturbed correlation of changes of intracavitary pressure and electric impedance in the process of their recording is interpreted as differential diagnostic property.
