FIELD: erection of pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: tape is used for forming protective coat on elongated backing, on metal pipes for example. At least one end of tape has chamfer at angle not exceeding 25 deg especially 7 deg. Tape has bearing layer and adhesive layer which have chamfered edges; chamfer passes through bearing layer and adhesive layer. Tape may be restored in heating and adhesive, if available is activated by heating. Tape is applied on backing with the use of induction heating. Frequency of heating is so selected that ratio of thickness of backing to depth of skin is 25:1 as a minimum. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of protective coat. 18 cl, 6 dwg
