FIELD: high-voltage pulse engineering; pumping lasers and producing heavy electrohydraulic shocks. SUBSTANCE: storage capacitor charger has oil-filled metal case, step-up transformer, high-voltage rectifier built around two diodes and two capacitors connected into voltage doubling circuit with common points of two diodes and two capacitors connected to transformer secondary winding, cut-off choke one of whose leads is connected to one of common points of diode and capacitor, and discharge resistor inserted between high-voltage lead of rectifier and ground. Novelty is that other common point of diode and capacitor is connected to ground and other lead of cut-off choke is connected directly or through series resistor to high-voltage lead.
