FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: described are new N-substituted hexahydroazepine derivatives of general formula I wherein A is group selected from -COCH₂-, -CH(OH)-CH₂-, -CH=CH-(cis), -C≡C-; X is hydrogen and Y is cyclohexyl; or X is hydrogen and Y is phenyl provided that if Y is cyclohexal and X is hydrogen, then A is other than -CH(OH)-CH₂, and if Y is phenyl, then A is other than -CH(OH)-CH₂ or -CO-CH₂, and also salts thereof with mineral or organic acids. Compounds I have antipsychotic activity and low toxicity and are useful in treating mental disorders. Compounds (I) are prepared from hexahydroazepine, formaldehyde and benzene derivative. Also described is pharmaceutical composition having antipsychotic activity which comprises, as active ingredient, effective amount of compound of formula (I).
