DEVICE FOR TEMPORARY SHUNTING OF EXTERNAL SMALL-INTESTINE FISTULAS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, particularly, surgery; may be used in obturation of external fistulas and recovery of passage of intestine contents in early postoperative period. SUBSTANCE: device consists of fixing bandage and inflatable rubber collar attached to internal surface of fixing bandage. Diameter of inflatable rubber collar corresponds to diameter of fistula. Rubber collar is connected by means of polyethylene adapter with receiving vessel provided with plug and valve. The latter is connected with pumping rubber bulb and with another inflatable collar by means of adapters. Device provides for obturation of external fistulas and recovery of passage of intestine contents in early postoperative period and prevention of patient cachexia caused by disturbance of homeostasis.
