FIELD: catalyst production. SUBSTANCE: method, including preparation of hydrosilica gel, mixing carrier with solutions of active components, drying of resulting pulp, molding, and heat treatment, is distinguished by that preparation of hydrosilica gel is carried out with simultaneous processing of silica material with alkali solutions of active components and transfer of a part of silica into solution followed by reprecipitation of dissolved silica with sulfuric acid in presence of solid particles of undissolved carrier. As silica material, naturally occurring and/or synthetic silica is used containing (taking into account substance calcined at 600 C) at least 86.0% silicon oxide and at most 11.0% aluminum oxide plus ferric oxide, whereas molar ratio SiO2/(K2O + Na2O) in operation of treatment of silica material with alkali metal solutions is varied over the range of 3.5-20.0, and degree of silicon oxide transfer into solution is maintained within a range of 0.14-0.85.
