FIELD: oxidation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst consists of vanadium, alkali metal, and sulfur oxide applied on natural or synthetic silica in following amounts, wt %: V2O5 5.5-12.0, K2O 8-20, Na2O up to 4.5, Cs2O up to 20, Rb2O up to 20, and SO3 12-35. Carrier is distinguished by containing pores with radii between 37.5 and 65000 with total volume between 0.35 and 0.95 cu. cm/cu.cm, content of pores with radii 1800 to 65000 ranging from 15 to 60% and not being below 0.10 cu.cm/cu.cm.
