FIELD: oxidation catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides SO2 to SO3 conversion catalyst containing vanadium, alkali metal (K, Na, Rb, Contains), and sulfur oxides as well as siliceous skeleton made from natural of synthetic silica and including pores with radii up to 65000 , percentage of pores with radii 1000-10000 constituting at least 5%, that with radii more than 10000 up to 35%, and that with radii less than 1000 at least 40%, including pores with radii less than 75 , whose percentage is at least 31%. Percentage of sulfuric acid-insoluble vanadium compounds (calculated on conversion to V2O5) in skeleton does not exceed 4.0%. preferably not more than 2.0%.
EFFECT: improved performance characteristics of catalyst by extending catalyst operation temperature range in low-temperature region, that is increased activity at catalysis temperature 380оС and simultaneously increased activity within middle temperature range (420-485оС).
