FIELD: foundry, modification processes, manufacture of castings from high-strength pig iron with spherical graphite. SUBSTANCE: process includes treatment of pig iron melt containing C=3.5-4.0; Si=1.0-1.5; S<0.030 mas.% in ladle with pulverized fraction of alloying composition OеIa-5 with size of up to 1.0 mm and ferrosilicium used as inoculant. Steel waste is employed in the capacity of reaction moderator. Relation between starting content of sulfur in pig iron, quantity of injected alloying composition OеIa-5 and steel waste is kept within limits 1:(93-100):(100-107), correspondingly. EFFECT: simultaneous reduction of production cost of castings and enhanced quality of modification. 1 tbl
