FIELD: mechanical engineering, production of tools to drill blast holes. SUBSTANCE: process includes heading of increased thickness, thermal treatment by contact electric heating, plastic deformation by stretching that is performed twice: in process of heating for hardening and in process of cooling and tempering and machining. Invention is aimed at development of process of manufacture of boring rods with enhanced resistance independent of precision of starting rolled product of boring steel and regularity of its geometry over length. Process makes it possible to increase service life of boring rods by factor of 1.5. EFFECT: increased service life of boring rods. 2 tbl
