PIVOTED WHIPSTOCK Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: drilling technology. SUBSTANCE: pivoted whipstock can be used in rotary drilling for directed deviation of bore-hole. Pivoted whipstock has guide rod with drilling bit and decentralizer which is pivotally connected with guide rod. Decentralizer is made up of shaft with upper adapter and lower adapter. Movable installed on it is framework with resilient arc-shaped supporting strips, and detent of framework turning with respect to shaft. Provided on end of framework is tooth, and mating slot is made in lower adapter. Included in guide rod is second decentralizer, and its mating slot is oriented diametrically opposite to similar slot in first decentralizer. Aforesaid embodiment of pivoted whipstock allows for widening technological potentialities due to ensuring deviation of bore-hole at small radius of curvature and lowering of whipstock into bore-hole without difficulties.
