FIELD: forest industry and wood-working industry; wood drying technology. SUBSTANCE: method consists in heating lumber moving in SHF field followed by removal of moisture from lumber which is effected by action of transversal mechanical load at simultaneous application of unidirectional loads of ultrasonic oscillations. Lumber drying plant includes travelling SHF furnace having heating chamber with inlet and outlet devices, SHF energy input unit connected with chamber and feed mechanism; plant is provided with pair of non-drive horizontal rolls mounted after outlet device of SHF furnace and ultrasonic oscillator equipped with vertical magnetostrictive converter connected with one of rolls through acoustic concentrator; size of inter-roll clearance is selected to be lesser than thickness of starting material by amount of radial shrinkage.
