METHOD FOR LUMBER DRYING AND INSTALLATION FOR ITS REALIZATION Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC F26B7/00 F26B13/04 

FIELD: forestry and wood-working industry, in particular, lumber drying practice and modification of wood physical properties.

SUBSTANCE: the method for lumber drying consists in removal of moisture from it in the process of lumber motion and action of mechanical load on it with simultaneous application of ultrasonic oscillations unidirectional to the load. The lumber is subjected to an additional mechanical action in the form of an impulse produced by way of modulation of ultrasonic oscillations by square pulses, the repetition frequency of modulating pulses is selected to be equal to the resonance frequency of the vibrating mechanical system consisting of a rod coupling the outlet cones of the magnetostriction transducers, material under processing and the clamping -non-driven roller, and their relative pulse duration-depending on the required mean power. The installation has a feeding mechanism made in the form of two pairs of driven rolls with a non-driven roll and a generator of ultrasonic oscillations installed between them in the direction of lumber motion, it has a vertically installed magnetostriction transducer. The second magnetostriction transducer is installed in alignment with the first one, their outlet cones are coupled by a metal rod and it has an amplitude-pulse modulator, whose outputs are connected to the magnetostriction transducers, and the input-to the generator of ultrasonic oscillations.

EFFECT: provided enhanced efficiency of the lumber drying process and reduced power construction.
