FIELD: rolling of metal strip in roughing rolling mill and finishing rolling mill. SUBSTANCE: method involves regulating process parameters in roughing rolling mill depending on predicted value for changing width of metal strip in finishing rolling mill; modeling dependence of changes in metal strip width on parameters of rolling process in neuronic circuit; adaptively changing circuit parameters upon each pass of metal strip through finishing rolling mill depending on values measured or calculated during passage of metal strip and actual changes in width. Direct communication circuit with hidden layer of sigmoid responsive members may be used as neuronic circuit. Adaptive linear neuron may used in neuronic circuit. EFFECT: increased efficiency by improved quality of prediction due to employment of neuronic circuit. 8 cl, 3 dwg
