SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rolling production and can be used for rolling of metal strip in finish group of stands, which has several rolling stands, which are alternately passed by strip. Method is characterized by the fact that for each of strip sections before entry to finish mill group their actual width and temperature are recorded and each section is assigned actual width and initial nominal width based on registered actual width, as well as actual temperature and nominal temperature based on registered actual temperature. At that, by means of the appropriate width control device, a certain back additional nominal value of the specified nominal tension in the strip after the corresponding rolling mill is introduced into the tension regulator, which controls the actual tension, acting in the strip behind the appropriate rolling stand according to the rated tension corrected for the back additional nominal value.

EFFECT: use of the invention increases accuracy of adjustment of width of rolled strip.
