FIELD: mechanical engineering; hoisting facilities; discarding of steel wire ropes. SUBSTANCE: flaw detector is designed for revealing lateral deformation in wire ropes. Flaw detector has split sections enclosing wire rope and connected by screws. Measuring links with fitted-on strain-gauge transducers made in form of flexible plates are secured by screws in split sections. Flat detector has locking mechanisms, each consisting of slider and spring installed on rod rigidly secured in parallel with longitudinal axis of wire rope on split section for translational movement along rod. Slider is hinge-coupled by tie-rod with turnable lever on free end of which pressure roller is installed. Groove on roller suits diameter of wire rope. One end of each L-shaped flexible plate is rigidly secured on split section, and other free end has replaceable member in form of sector with profile corresponding to shape of wire rope strand. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of flaw detection by measuring lateral deformation developing in wire ropes in service. 3 dwg
