FIELD: metallurgy of steel used in nuclear power, particularly, for manufacture of nuclear reactor bodies and intrareactor equipment. SUBSTANCE: steel contains the following components, mas.%: carbon, 0.13-0.18; silicon, 0.20-0.35; manganese, 0.30-0.60; chromium, 2.0-3.5; vanadium, 0.10-0.35; tungsten, 1.0-2.0; molybdenum, 0.01-0.05; nickel, 0.01-0.1; cobalt, 0.01-0.05; copper, 0.01-0.1; aluminum, 0.01-0.1; niobium, 0.01-0.05; yttrium, 0.05-0.15; iron, the balance. In this case total content of Ni, Co, Mo, Nb and Cu amounts not more than 0.2, and (V + 0.3W)/C ratio is 3-6. Steel possesses more lower level of induced radioactivity with its more rapid drop after neutron exposure and high resistance to brittle failure under conditions of neutron radiation with preservation of high level of strength properties. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 tbl
