FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: relates to erection of buildings and structures on freezing and swelling ground. Heat-insulated foundation includes solid body with protrusions and batters at side which faces ground. Inserts in foundation batters are made of material with modulus of deformation which differs from deformation modulus of material used for manufacture of protrusions. Inserts in batters are made of heat-insulating material such as expanded polystyrene. Ratio of surface areas of protrusions and batters is taken such that pressure transmitted to ground over lower surface of protrusions is not less than value of normal pressure of freezing swelling of ground. Simultaneously required strength of heat-insulating material should be ensured. Setting of foundation must be determined with taking account of increased compressibility of heat-insulating material. In separate cases when pressure brought to bear upon ground is not higher than strength of heat-insulating material, surface area of batters with inserts is assumed as being equal to total surface area of foundation. Aforesaid arrangement of foundation allows for laying foundation higher than design depth of freezing of swelling ground matter and transmission of load through entire surface of foundation, thus making possible reduction of amount of earth moving operations with reduced amount of materials needed for building foundation.
