FIELD: study of materials. SUBSTANCE: method consists in measurement of parameters characterizing friction force between surface of cylindrical body and surface of loaded sample of fiber. Surface of cylindrical body is freely positioned on axis passing through it that is displaced with reference to center of gravity of cylindrical body. Cylindrical body is brought from equilibrium position by application of moment of external forces and then specified action is removed. When cylindrical body attains new equilibrium angle of turn around axis passing through it with respect to its initial equilibrium position is measured. Device determining friction properties of fiber includes cylindrical body put on axis passing through axis of cylinder. Cylindrical body is manufactured in the form of disc on which end face surface load is rigidly fixed whose center of gravity is displaced with regard to axis passing through disc. Disc is freely put on axis. Measurement device is fabricated in the form of meter of angle of turn of disc about axis passing through it. Device is fitted with support with clamp for rigid registration of one of ends of loaded sample of fiber.
