FIELD: mechanical testing of tribological materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to determination of the coefficient of sliding friction. Electromagnetic moment of rotation of the lower element of the tribological pair is created using an asynchronous three-phase motor through a multistage gearbox, which is compensated by the friction force that occurs when the upper element is pressed against the lower element by means of a variable load through a system of levers, while the sliding friction coefficient of the tribological pair is determined by the formula.
EFFECT: possibility of a comprehensive assessment of the friction coefficient of a tribological pair, which will make it possible to exclude the possibility of obtaining outliers in the course of determining the friction coefficient relative to various points of contact of the surface, and to monitor the general nature of the change in the friction coefficient over the entire contact surface, taking into account various factors affecting the friction process.
