FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves subjecting soil layer to the action of system of deforming members, urging soil layer in horizontal and vertical directions, such as auxiliary member and slitter; mellowing soil layer by means of deforming members, with mellowing zones being combined. When direction of splitting lines of vertical deforming member relative to boundary lines of mellowing zone of horizontal deforming member is selected, angle of internal friction is taken into account. Mellowing zones of horizontal and vertical deforming members have boundary line intersection points on field surface. In the process of deep mellowing, deforming members do not mix soil layers and do not bring them to surface. EFFECT: simplified method and improved quality of soil mellowing. 1 dwg
