FIELD: rolled stock production, namely working stands of mills for rolling wide strips and thick sheets. SUBSTANCE: lower working roll assembly includes chocks and guides in the form of cross beams having flange with sharpened end engaging with roll. End portions of guides are placed on liner packs arranged in grooves of walls of chocks at side of roll barrel. Grooves of chocks and cross beams are inclined relative to vertical axis of chocks. Their inclination angle is determined according to given relation , where α -- inclination angle of chock grooves and cross beams relative to vertical axis of chocks; Rmax - maximum radius of new roll; Rmin - minimum radius of roll after complete wear of surface working layer; B - difference between rolling level and contact point of cross beam flange end with rolls. Thickness of liner packs in grooves of chocks is determined in dependence upon roll radius according to relation: h=(R-Rmin)/cos, where h - thickness of liner pack; R - roll radius. EFFECT: reduced number of rejected, unfinished sections, lowered number of breakage of rolls and guides. 2 cl, 3 dwg
