APPARATUS FOR BALANCING SPINDLES OF ROLLING MILLS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2154540 C2

FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly balancing spindles of rolling stands of rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes spindle bench, spring-loaded bearing assemblies of spindles, hydraulic cylinders for balancing spindles and worm-screw mechanism for vertically moving spindles. Spindle bench is in the form of two vertical struts with channel cross section formed by means of walls having outer and inner rigidity ribs turned to spindle axes. Two cartridges are arranged with possibility of vertical motion between said struts. Cartridges hold upper and lower spindles and they are in the form of boxes with vertical walls having rectangular cross section along their perimeters. Vertical strips are secured to angular portions of outer surfaces of cartridge walls and they engage with reciprocal strips secured to inner surfaces of vertical struts of spindle bench. Other strips are also secured to inner surfaces of angular portions of cartridge walls. Between said strips cross pieces are arranged with possibility of vertical motion and in parallel relative to spindle axles at both sides of them. Cross pieces support trunnions of bodies of bearing assemblies of spindles. Cross pieces are suspended by means of tie rods arranged in pairs at both sides of spindle axle and they are supported through springs by means of horizontal wings provided on upper ends in angles of cartridges. There are bosses on outer surfaces of lateral walls of cartridges. Trunnions are pressed into bosses arranged in slits of walls of vertical struts of spindle bench. Two-plunger cylinders are arranged between trunnions of cartridges. Lower plungers of said cylinders have larger diameters than upper ones and they are jointly connected with trunnions of cartridge of lower spindle. Trunnions of cartridge of upper spindles freely rest upon upper plungers. Worm-screw mechanism for vertically moving spindles is mounted under cartridge of lower spindle. On lower end of cartridge there is bridge engaging with screw of worm-screw mechanism through thrust bearing unit. EFFECT: enhanced quality of rolled metal, improved reliability of rolls and spindles, reduced idling periods, enhanced efficiency of rolling mill, lowered lubricant consumption, enhanced ecological conditions in rolling shops due to non-significant contamination of environment. 5 dwg
