FIELD: manufacture of cutting tools from extra hard materials under conditions of high pressure and temperature; applicable in tool making industry. SUBSTANCE: additionally arranged between layers of cubic boron nitride and mixture of cubic boron nitride with metal components is layer of metallic binder with melting temperature equalling 50-75% of melting temperature of main binder. Ratio of layers of additional binder and layer of cubic boron nitride with metal components amounts from 1:30 to 1:5 in height, and ratio of layers of main metal binder and cubic boron nitride is from 1: 1 to 1:3 in height. In addition, applied to layer of main binder is intermittent layer of hexagonal boron nitride. Pressure is built up in two stages. At the first stage, pressure is raised to working value and reduced by 65- 90%, then it is again raised to working value, and temperature is raised to melting temperature of main binder. Temperature is held for some time, and pressure at this temperature is dropped for 2-3 s to 20-40% of working value. Then, temperature is reduced to room temperature.
