FIELD: power supplies for klystrons and similar devices. SUBSTANCE: circuit has DC power supply with positive and negative terminals; retrace transformer with primary and secondary windings, its primary winding having first and second leads for connection to DC power supply; sensing element for generating signal indicating current amplitude in primary winding; and solid-state power circuit for connecting DC power supply to retrace transformer primary winding. The latter is connected to power supply in response to signal and disconnected from it when current of predetermined level is detected in primary winding.
