SAILING SHIP Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: water transport; sailing cargo and passenger vessel. SUBSTANCE: sailing ship includes hull, swivel mast and rigid sails engageable with this mast and turnable in vertical and horizontal position. Mast is made in form vertical cylinder with horizontal beam. Mounted on ends of this beam are stanchions with shrouds. Sails are made in form of elongated panels with tubular axles and through stiffening girders. Tubular axles are located horizontally and their ends are engageable with stanchions for rotating them by means of levers connected to them and chains. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of using the sails, i.e. more complete use of wind energy; ease of control of sails. 3 dwg
