FIELD: seismology. SUBSTANCE: method can be used for detection of potential sites of small surface earthquakes in areas of contemplated construction activities or in inhabited locations. According to method, level of seismic danger is determined according to degree of self-destruction of rock matter in process of core drilling operation. Drilling is performed to 200-250 m depth. Fact of fragile self-destruction is revealed according to destruction of core into small fractions of less than core diameter and/or into concave-convex disks of not thicker tan 20 mm. Degree of destruction is determined according to mathematical relation brought forward in description of invention. Application of aforesaid method allows for real detection of potential site of earthquake and opens way for its neutralization. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
