FIELD: hydraulic turbines. SUBSTANCE: repair packing used for hydraulic turbines whose rotor is designed for axial movement and working mechanisms are mounted below water level in downstream reach has sealing cord secured on cylindrical surface of part of stay vanes in axially spaced relation to cylindrical surface of rotor part for contacting this surface during axial displacement of rotor by means of standard means. Protruding part of sealing cord is long enough to close radial clearance between cylindrical surfaces of parts; rotor part has entrance section of gradually changing diameter on sealing cord side. Contact pressure of packing that depends on water pressure at location point of repair seal is adjustable due to difference in diameters of protruding part of sealing cord and that of cylindrical surface. In second version, repair packing has sealing cord secured on cylindrical surface of rotor part axially spaced relative to cylindrical surface of part of stay vanes for contacting this surface when turbine rotor is moving. Protruding part of sealing cord is long enough to cover clearance between surfaces of parts. Part of stay vanes has entrance section with gradually changing diameter on sealing cord side.
