INJECTOR-TYPE TORCH Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: burning gaseous fuel in furnaces and boilers and combustion chambers of gas-turbine plants; auxiliary ignition torches for various electric plants. SUBSTANCE: injector-type torch has mixing chamber 1 at whose inlet gas supply branch pipe 3 and air duct 2 with supply branch pipe 4 are fitted. Torch is provided with passages 6 communicating cavity П₂ of duct 2 with cavity П₁ after mixing chamber and with throttle orifices 5 (when necessary) dividing cavities П₂ and П₄ of duct 2 and branch pipe 4. Passages 6 perform function of pressure regulator to obtain pressure of air at mixing chamber inlet equal to pressure after mixing chamber. Proper ratio of mass flow rates of air and fuel is ensured by active jet of gaseous fuel in accordance with parameters and geometric sizes of jet injector-type apparatus. When torch is to be used as auxiliary ignition torch, it is provided with plug 7 fitted in special cavity 8 separated from cavity of passages 6. Mixing chambers are arranged over section of duct in tight rows at gap between them close in magnitude to outlet diameter of mixing chamber.
