METHOD OF BIOLOGICAL CHECKING OF DOCUMENTS IN PROCESS OF THEIR LONG-TIME STORAGE Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: long-time storage of documents. SUBSTANCE: method includes sampling by exposition of test sample for 3-24 months in document under real storage conditions. Test sample is cultivated in sealed vessel, after which respiratory activity of grown cultures is determined by quantity of escaped carbon dioxide with aid of gas-chromatographic method. Biological state of document is considered satisfactory if quantity of carbon dioxide does not exceed 0.150 g/sq.dm of test sample area. Test sample is made of paper based on 100-per cent cotton cellulose or linen fibers or on 100-per cent sulfate or sulfite cellulose. Test sample contains 1.5-2.0 per cent by mass of gelatin, starch, glucose or sucrose. In addition, number of colonies of microorganisms developed on test sample is calculated, their identification is performed and conclusion is made about destructive activity of cultures separated from document. Method makes it possible to estimate biological state of any document in dynamics and eliminates hazard of document damage. EFFECT: reduced labour consumption. 4 cl, 12 ex, 3 tbl
