FIELD: mechanical engineering; thermal welding, cutting and surfacing of metals and alloys in emergency rescuing operations, in the field and at home in the absence of other power sources. SUBSTANCE: welding pencil is made in form of thin-walled combustible material tube which is filled at one side with thermit mixture. Other end of tube is stopped. Box-holder is form of combustible material thin-walled tube is tightly fitted on tube from mixture side. Length of box not less than length of tube. Free end of tube is stopped. Re-placing of box in tube from free end face to limiting stop is allowed. Stop made also of combustible material is placed at a distance from tube end face equal to 0.25-0.35 of its length. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities, possibility of welding in any position, provision of safety and convenience in operation. 2 dwg
