FIELD: mechanical engineering; portable devices for fusion welding of metals. SUBSTANCE: thermit rod of portable welder consists of pressed thermit mixture containing reducer, gas-generating addition and metal oxides. Thermit rod is made in form of graphite bushing. Thermit rod is installed in metal tube and is pressed to side of end piece by means of spring-loaded pusher. Thermit mixture can contain additionally a binder, such as glycerol. Metal oxides in thermit mixture can contain scale of metals of copper, nickel or iron group.
