FIELD: preparation of raw materials for main application in ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: slime is supplied in pulps from metallurgical equipment through pressure pipelines to accumulating slime pit, pumped out, dewatered, prepared for use in sintering and blast-furnace burden, or directed to users. After filling of accumulating slime pit up to more than 75% of its useful volume, a part of slime pulp is transferred by suction-tube dredger to, at least, one active mud-settling pit; and slime dewatering, and its preparation for use are carried out in active mud- settling pit. Slime is dewatered to moisture content of 36-44%. Pulp density in pressure pipeline and pulp feed- line is maintained within 1.3-1.4 t/cu.m and flow rate of 1.25-1.5 m/s. EFFECT: excluded construction of new settling pits, reduced cost of main product due to reduced expenditures for maintenance of slime accumulators and delivery of slime to users, provision of systematic despatching of slime, and prolonged term for preparation of second stage of hydraulic filling chart. higher efficiency. 5 cl, 3 dwg, 2 tbl
