FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: connector has socket connected to first cable and plug connected to second cable. Plug and socket have interacting contact members incorporating pins and jacks for electrical interconnection of first and second cables and interacting fastenings for mechanical connection of plug to socket. Novelty is that pin and jack contact members are arranged sequentially along axes of cables or partially in parallel in two or more rows; fastenings have hinges on one end of plug and socket to provide hinged joint between them as well as locking device on other end of plug and socket to lock these parts in position; pin contact members are passed perpendicular to axis of connected cable. EFFECT: improved reliability and simplicity of connector mechanical design. 4 cl, 3 dwg
