RECONSTRUCTION OF TANKERS Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: reconstruction of tankers. SUBSTANCE: method of reconstruction of single-bottom tanker consists in separation of fore section of hull from midship section at area located near rear end of fore section having curvature. Then additional section is inserted between separated fore section and midship and new shell plating of inner bottom is used for the purpose . It is located at some distance from side walls and from bottom of midship section and is secured to them. Above-mentioned shell plating is moved backward from inserted section as far as point located behind cargo tanks mounted in midship section. Envelope of inner bottom retains curvature of fore section and increases towards its width and depth (height) to form practically smooth outer surface connecting the fore section with outer envelope of inner bottom. Form of this outer envelope corresponds to form of midship section of full. Outer envelope of inner bottom changes to cone towards side and lower surfaces of aft section behind cargo tanks. Inserted section has double bottom communicated with space between outer envelope and side walls and bottom of midship section of hull. EFFECT: possibility of forming new outer double bottom at retained initial form of underwater portion of tanker hull at retainer cargo capacity. 10 cl, 3 dwg
