FIELD: applicable in internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: the electrodynamic valve-actuating gear comprises a soft magnetic core accommodating a soft magnetic spring-loaded armature, permanent magnet and a control winding. The soft magnetic spring-loaded armature is installed for reciprocating motion. The soft magnetic core is positioned inside the winding. The permanent magnet is installed on the end face of the magnetic core on the side facing the armature. Mathematical dependence is given for selection of magnet dimensions. A magnetic damper in the form of conducting material is fastened to the inner surface of the magnetic core along the path of armature motion. EFFECT: enhanced dimensions of the permanent magnet, reduced dimensions of the control winding, which results in an increase of the force of magnetic attraction, improvement (linearization) of its (force) characteristic, reduction of power consumption and control winding time constant and, as a result, enhanced efficiency of the permanent magnet and speed of response of the valve-actuating gear on the whole. 2 cl, 1 dwg
