FIELD: production of cellulose by sulfite and bisulfite methods of cooking of various species of wood may be also applicable in other allied industries. SUBSTANCE: method includes treatment of liquor with magnesium-containing agent up to pH 6-7. Magnesium-containing agent is used in form of lumpy brucite sizing 10-500 mm. In this case, liquor is treated by its passing through layer of lumpy brucite, for instance, in hollow tower. EFFECT: extended raw material base of neutralizing agent, simplified method due to exclusion of operation for preparation of neutralizing agent. 2 cl, 1 tbl
