FIELD: equipment for protecting padlocks, mechanical anticreep devices etc from breaking. SUBSTANCE: protective device has coiled steel tape spring which is adapted to be put onto lock and fixed in compressed state, with spring coil plane being out of parallelism with respect to spring axis. Such construction prevents lock from being sawn up or drilled through (drill or saw blade will slip from solid resilient tape), from being split (spring will absorb shocks), or sawn up by abrasive wheel (another coil will take place of sawn up coil due to precompression of spring). Spring may be used for attaching lock to object to be protected (for instance, for securing ignition lock to car steering column).
