FIELD: water-absorbing alloys and accumulators based on them. SUBSTANCE: in correspondence with invention electrochemical water-absorbing alloys contains base alloy AMb which is alloy of Mg and Ni with proportion from approximately 1:2 to approximately 2:1. M is at least one modifying element chosen from group consisting of Co, Mn, Al, Fe, Cu, Mo, W, Cr, V, Ti, Zr, Sn, Th, Si, Zn, Li, Cd, Na, Pb, La, Mm and Ca; b is greater than 0.5 atomic per cent, preferably 2.5 atomic per cent and less than 30.0 atomic per cent and a+b=100.0 atomic per cent. One modifier as minimum is chosen from group composed of Co, Mn, Fe and Cu and total mass of at least one modifying element amounts to not less than 25 atomic per cent of prepared composition. It will be preferable if total mass of at least one mentioned modifying element amounts to less than 20.0 atomic per cent of prepared composition.
