FIELD: hydrogen-absorbing materials and electrochemical current supplies made of them. SUBSTANCE: proposed multicomponent hydrogen-absorbing disordered electrochemical material is characterized by the following formula: (main alloy) aMb, where (main alloy) is Mg and Ni alloy in proportion of approximately 1:2 to 2:1; M is at least one modifying element chosen from group of Co, Mn, Al, Fe, Cu, Mo, W, Cr, V. Ti, Zr, Sn, Th, Si, Zn, Li, Cd, Na, Pb, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Mm, Pd, Pt, and Cs; b is higher than 0.5 and lower than 30 atomic percent, and a + b = 100 atomic percent; mentioned hydrogen- absorbing disordered electrochemical material has microstructure including great volume fraction distinguished by intermediate order. Accumulators made of this material and material activation process are also proposed. Such accumulators are noted for very high capacity, long charge-maintenance time, long cyclic-service life, and reduced cost.
