FIELD: general machine engineering, ship building, manufacture of transportation means, chemical and other branches of industry, namely straightening and restoring parts and articles such as thin-wall envelopes, closed and unclosed with hard access to one side (tanks, panels, vehicle body parts and so on). SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forming closed cavity in zone of envelope surface with defects, subjecting envelope in its deformation zone to straightening action directed normally relative to surface of envelope; after forming said cavity placing envelope into closed chamber; creating high pressure in said chamber for providing straightening effort acting upon envelope; forming said cavities in several zones of envelope surface with defects; selecting value of straitening effort acting at side of chamber pressure equal to value of straightening effort suitable for zone with the least area of defect. EFFECT: possibility of straightening several deformation zones for one cycle, lowered investment, high quality of surface straightening. 2 cl, 6 dwg
