FIELD: plastic working of metals, namely restoration of damaged walls of transport vehicle bodies.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of striking transport vehicle with straightening member due to creation of evacuation between straightened material and straightening member. Such striking is multiply performed while at straightening process evacuation degree is changed with frequency sufficient for producing multiple striking of material with straightening member until imparting to straightened material contour set by means of straightening member. Apparatus for performing the method includes evacuation pump, stationary changeable member for straightening having at least one opening for communication with atmosphere and elastic seal arranged along periphery of straightening member. Apparatus also includes intermediate chamber arranged between said pump and straightening member and having valve for cyclically increasing pressure in chamber. Outer configuration of straightening member corresponds to profile of straightened material.

EFFECT: improved quality of straightening.
