FIELD: optoelectronic equipment. SUBSTANCE: device has two parallel transparent plates with transparent electrodes, which are located on inner sides between which film of polymer-encapsulated cholesteric liquid crystal, which has positive dielectric anisotropy. Macromolecules in polymer film are oriented in same direction. Device operates in three optical modes depending on level of applied electric field, namely, it scatters light of arbitrary polarization, passes only one linear-polarization light component, pass light of arbitrary polarization.
