LIQUID CRYSTAL ELEMENT FOR CONTROLLING LIGHT POLARIZATION PARAMETERS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC G02F1/1347

Abstract RU 2826877 C1

FIELD: optoelectronic equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optoelectronic engineering and liquid crystal devices for controlling polarization parameters of transmitted light using an electric field and optical radiation. Liquid crystal element for controlling light polarization parameters consists of two glass substrates with transparent electrodes on inner sides, between which there is a layer of cholesteric liquid crystal, wherein the electrode on the input substrate is treated so as to provide tangential surface adhesion for the cholesteric substance used, and the electrode on the output substrate is treated in such a way that a conical surface adhesion is provided for the cholesteric substance used, the novelty is that a photosensitive chiral additive is added to the cholesteric substance, and two light-emitting diodes are installed in front of the input substrate, the radiation of which is capable of changing the twisting force of the photosensitive additive.

EFFECT: increased range of continuous and reversible change of polarization azimuth of achromatic light, possibility of simultaneous control of azimuth ψ and ellipticity angle ξ of light for any wavelength of the visible spectral range.
