SUBSTANCE: receiver for decoding of compressed image and sound information components, which are transmitted in incompatible data frames with respective playback time markers, has controller, which responds to respective received time markers and serves for rough synchronization using delay or loss of corresponding frames of any component in order to achieve approximate alignment of two components in time. Fine synchronization is accomplished by tuning which is independent from image processor, processing frequency or clock frequency of sound processor. Frequency tuning control depends on difference between time markers for sound and image. EFFECT: increased reliability of synchronization. 7 cl, 6 dwg
